| With the move to
Thorp Spring the Clark brothers
adopted the name AddRan Male and Female Academy. Although
instructors were required to be members of the Christian Church,
Addison stood firm on his position not to have the word
"Christian" in the name of the school. He felt it should be known
for its deeds rather than its words. Suffering from a long string of cash flow problems, the brothers relinquished control of the school and it became known as AddRan Christian University in 1889. In 1896 the school moved to Waco, Texas and it was renamed Texas Christian University in 1902. | |
