Cultural District Virtual Tour
Photo by J. E. Clark Anchoring the Will Rogers Memorial Center are the three original buildings: Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum, Will Rogers Auditorium and connecting the two, Pioneer Tower.
Inside Pioneer Tower, you'll find a bronze bust of Will Rogers. Notice his nose is unusually shiny. This is because rodeo cowboys consider it good luck to rub Will's nose before any big event.
Before you say that's silly consider this: If you were planning to tie your right hand to an angry animal that may weigh over two thousand pounds, you might find yourself reaching for anything with a promise of good luck.
Throughout the Will Rogers Memorial Center and the rest of the cultural district, historical markers like the one on the front of the Richardson-Bass building at the Equestrian Center spring up on every surface.
